Sept. 25: For years, zookeepers at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., have tried to help a panda named May Shong conceive a baby. She gave birth last week, but sadly, the baby panda died over the weekend. The zoo says May Shong has been cradling a plastic toy since her offspring’s death. NBC’s Anne Thompson reports.
